The village of Avliotes is located 3 Km Northeast to Agios Stefanos . It is about a small village with a population of 1600 inhabitants, built on the hillside over the bay of Agios Stefanos. Take a little time to explore the village and you will be rewarded with some of the most spectacular scenery offered from the top of the hill where the main church of “Taxiarhon” is located . From there you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Diapontia Islets : Othonos (7 n.mi.), Erikoussa and Mathraki and Albania opposite. These three islands, which cover a total area of 18 sq. km., form Greece's northwest border in the Ionian. Though sparsely populated, they abound in fresh fish and aromatic grapes . Caiques from Agios Stefanos port offer day-long excursions to the Diapontia Islets : Othonos(7 n.mi.), Erikoussa and Mathraki |
